The Customs Self Assessment (CSA) and Advance Commercial Information (ACI) programs will become the Canada Border Services Agency programs for release and accounting for imported goods. ACI is in the preliminary phases of implementation and will be the only alternative to CSA when fully implemented in 2012. ACI importers will be required to electronically provide to CBSA upwards of 33 pieces of information relating to each shipment prior to the arrival of goods. CSA participants have the benefits of providing minimal release data, faster border clearance and consolidated accounting. Tracon assists importers in determining the most suitable release and clearance methods in terms of timely access to goods, ability to comply with ACI and CSA requirements, and completion of applications to join the programs. Secure trade has become the focus of CBSA and most other customs agencies. Programs such as PIP in Canada, C-TPTAT in the USA, and AEO in Europe and other nations all have similar requirements for supply chain participants which, if documented and verified, mean less frequent border inspections and continued speedy release at Customs. Tracon assists importers, manufacturers, exporters and transportation companies wishing to become PIP and C-TPAT certified. We guide you through the application process, assist in compliance preparation including procedure and policy manuals and the validation process by Customs.
